City of Heroes News & Events & Guides
Since its launch, City of Heroes has been a resounding success, both critically and commercially. The super-hero based MMO managed to strip out much of the tedium associated with the genre and offer players a compelling experience centered around playing a superhero in "Paragon City," running around in brightly colored costumes kicking the bejeeburs out of a horde of Silver-Age style comic book super villains. At first glance, it looked perfect, lacking only capes, a longtime staple of the superhero costume.
Still, for all of City of Heroes' myriad virtues, extended play began to show cracks in its armor(CoH Influence). One major flaw was a lack of player-versus-player combat where heroes could battle player-run villains, a major oversight that will be corrected in a forthcoming retail expansion pack called City of Villains. While players are waiting for that, however, NC Soft and Cryptic Studios (the game's publisher and developer), have continued to upgrade the product in dozens of ways through a series of free add-ons, eager to fix flaws in the game and add more content for players to experience. The first update, Through the Looking Glass, added plenty of new zones, new enemies, and instanced outdoor missions(City of Heroes influence).
