Uncharted Waters Online: A Detailed Open Beta Review

Moving around town couldn't be easier

A lot of games seem to be using UWO Gold nowadays and it's great. That is the auto-walk system. Whether it comes in the shape of you being able to auto walk to your next quest destination, or even just being able to go to a location clicked on the map without having a click fest, it's a great feature to have. Luckily Uncharted Waters Online included this in the design. When you click the mini map a larger version will pop up. From there you can click on a location and walk to the destination. Another plus of the map system is even though it lacks in some more detailed features other games have such as searching for npcs by names or organizing the map to only show certain locations, you can find the location you want by highlighting the different icons on it. The icons are also a clear representation of what the icon may be without seeing the name. Honestly I like the simplistic design of it, and I don't think it needs to be too detailed since you won't be spending all of your time in the towns. At least I won't be. There is one thing I do find odd about the map system however. In the tutorial missions there are quest markers on the map showing you where the instructor is located in town. However as you progress in the game I noticed those same markers lacking in my other quests. If I needUncharted Waters Online Gold to deliver a letter to so-and-so in that place, well I have to look for him on my own; there isn't an indicator to where he is in town. Now since a lot of towns aren't that huge and the names usually give you a general idea to where said person is, it would have been nice to have a marker to walk directly to him.
