Second Life News & Events & Guides
As most of you know, Second Life allows players to use real world currency in order to advance themselves throughout the game. The game doesn’t have any real objectives, but rather serves as a place to ‘live’ through a virtual character. As Second life linden grows, it has began to spread into the real world. For example, Zed Drebin (an avatar in the game), has started his own ‘hotel’ business.
He owns a house on the beach, which he’s styled to be part Barbie castle and part medieval lair. In addition, he is the landlord of two island colonies, both of which feature spaceships, amusement parks and all kinds of futuristic buildings. About 80 renters pay to live in themed condos at his getaway resorts. For all of this, Drebin pays only $390 a month, he said.
Last month, residents in California sued Linden Labs for misleading them over their ownership of property in the game. This whole virtual living thing is beginning to get a little crazy.
