Second Life has its own economy and it's own currency - the Linden dollar. Besides the weekly wage, Second Life residents can earn money by selling the products they create or the services they provide. For example, in the Second Life society you can be a 3D architect, a stripper or a paid assassin. Linden dollars can be bought from Linden labs and they can be converted at the Lindex exchange office or other exchanges houses. The Linden dollar fluctuates daily, depending on the trades and acquisitions made by the population.

The teenage alternative of Second Life, or better said 'the teenage grid' is very different from the virtual world created for adults. Created at the beginning of 2005 for teenagers between 13-17, Teen Second Life has a few basic rules which are strictly respected by Linden Labs(Second life linden).

Everything is possible in Second Life. Even live concerts. Residents can sing at home or in their studios, they upload the sounds on the computer and they can be listened in Second Life by other residents. These type of Second Life events are very frequent. Most of these musicians of the virtual world are also artists in real life and use this virtual game in order to become more popular. There are singers but there are also bands. One of the most popular bands in Second Life is Keltish and it has six members. Four of the six members sing, one is an avatar technician and the sixth is a sound technician(Secondlife linden). In order to perform, Keltish needs four computers connected to the Internet, microphones, a Shoutcast server, Winamp and operating systems. The musical industry in Second Life is growing rapidly. The first musical transmission was made in the year of 2004.
